The low-carbon transformation process in the energy sector depends on the development of innovative technological solutions as well as on upgrading infrastructure. Despite the decreasing costs of renewables, the contribution to the energy mix of wind and solar accounts for 7 % in the NPS scenario due to the limitations related to their large-scale deployment and use in some sectors. Therefore, further technological advances and significant infrastructure investments are needed to support these trends and make low-carbon technologies truly competitive.
